Shot List

    

These are the camera shots I will be using in my music magazine. I chose to use a medium shot for the front cover, because I like the look that it has. I am going to cut out the picture of the model in Photoshop to give the magazine a 'clean' and fresh look. For the double-page spread the model is in a more relaxed position, to give a more relaxed feeling, as it will include an interview and it will relate to getting 'close' to the artist. I am going to cut out the model for the front page so that I can place it on a plain background. The two-shot is for the contents page; it is for a band in another article of the magazine. The sixth shot is for the double page spread. The model will be looking up, and the picture will be placed at the bottom of text to make it seem as if the model is reading the text.

I named my magazine 'Buzzin' because I think it will appeal more to my target audience which are teenagers because that is the kind of language that teenagers use. The masthead gives the idea that it is a successful company, if it was one. The model has one hand on her hip and she is looking down at the camera to make her look powerful. The artists name is on a blue background to make it stand out and show that she is an important artist. The price is £3.50 as it is not too high or low and it shows that the magazine has value. The colours used are not too sharp and the amount of colours used are limited to a minimum so that they do not clash with each other and so that it does not look overcrowded. I placed the slogan in the top left corner because that is where people normally read from first. The artist is in the centre of the page to show that there is a lot of important information that the audience would want to find out. There are a lot of teasers and pull quotes surrounding the artist to make the target audience want to read more about an article as well. There are featured artists so that if people like an artist from it they would be more likely to buy the magazine.

Reader Profile

Kesha is a 16 year old studying her first year of media studies at college. She listens to R’n’B and hip hop in her spare time and her interests are singing and dancing, she can also play the guitar. She has a YouTube page where she has about 48 videos of her singing and has 162 subscribers. She would love to meet Beyonce as she is her biggest influence in R&B music. She downloads her music from iTunes and uses the internet at least two hours everyday. ‘Vibe’ is her favourite music magazine and she enjoys attending live music events of her favourite artists every three months. She has a part time job in a retail shop where she earns £40 each week. After university Kesha wants to get signed to a recording company and take off with her singing career. Kesha is the typical reader for my magazine because she is female, she is a 16 year old teenager and she loves female R&B artists like Beyonce and Mariah Carey, as they are a big influence on her right now, so I think she would want to find out the lastest gossip and news about her favourite celebrities.

Question seven.

 I decided to ask about what topic people like to read about most in articles, so that I can base the interview on my double - page spread about subjects like that. Most people chose 'celebrity relationships and personal life', 'Succes stories' and 'celebrity fashion sense'.

I asked people what they want more of in magazines so that I could add more of that in my magazine. Most people said celebrity posters, the top celebrities in charts and latest gossip or interviews and this information is displayed effectively in this pie chart.

Question 5...

From my research I found out which parts of the magazine I should make most obvious and appealing to the reader. These are celebrity pictures, celebrity articles and free posters. 

Question four: Mastheads.

It is difficult to think of a suitable magazine name for the genre of R&B. 'Bounce' was the most popular name, but it links more to pop music so changed it to 'Rhythm' which was the second most popular name.
